This is called humanity

This is why people need to keep faith in humanity, it’s there.
13 things my uncle told me before he died:
not everyone has the blessing to understand sadness
when waiting at the bus stop, it’s okay to smoke cigarettes
never touch anyone else’s clothes at the laundromat
it’s okay to miss the people who were bullets to you
when your grandmother asks you how you are, be honest
never be afraid to say “no” even after you’ve said “yes”
if someone tells you graffiti isn’t art, prove them wrong
remember people by their eye color not their clothes
you’re allowed to like dark chocolate with tangerines
don’t lie that you don’t have a lighter when you really do
turn your phone off every once in a while and find the moon
if you want a tattoo, don’t let anyone tell you not to get it
if you ever find yourself at the graveyard, read the names

As I grow older, much older, I will experience many things, and I will hit rock bottom again and again. Again and again I will suffer; again and again I will get back on my feet. I will not be defeated. I won’t let my spirit be destroyed. Banana Yoshimoto (Kitchen)

my roommate and I met him by accident at a local thrift store in the late fall and we’ve been friends ever since. we all go to lunch at once a week, and he always has the best stories. he’s an incredible person; he’s ninety-four and is extremely open-minded and cheerful and full of life and even still travels freely on his own. “don’t tell anyone, but for my ninety-fifth birthday I’m going to canada!”

this post means so much to me and i have no idea why

idk if you can read the sentence on the right page but its relevance is that a while ago my boyfriend texted me “goodnight, sweetheart” but sweetheart autocorrected to “stardust” and i thought that was really beautiful but anyway things have been really complicated lately so i ran away to the mountains to try to clear my head and it didn’t work but at least i made this while i was there and i’ve missed the mountains for a long time so

Photograph, taken in 1925 of a girl visiting the grave of her twin sister who died in a house fire the year before. Parents of the girl saw her, on many occasions, talking to her sister like she was playing in her room, but no one was there, and they thought it was just part of the grieving process.

Anonymous asked: Do you write poetry?

Not so much now but I use to all the time
